Last Saturday, the family loaded up and went to the movies. This really is an amazing feat since you never know how Deren will act...or act up (hehehe).
We went to see "How to Train Your Dragon". It was wonderful! It is available in 2D and 3D. We opted NOT to see it in 3D since I get a headache about an hour into any 3D flick. Pretty sure it's the glasses. The movie has something for everyone. It's a good story. And it's not all neat and tidy, tied in a bow, either. Deren never took his eyes off the screen. When Toothless (the night fury) makes his first appearance, Deren said, "kitty". So funny. He even clapped at the end.
We recommend this one for the whole family...even if you decide not to take the kids!

Look again....Devin's 10!!!
Devin turned 10 yesterday. I wish I could say it was the best birthday ever...but it wasn't. Devin was sick. She came home from school on Monday running fever and complaining of a headache. Tuesday morning, she woke up feeling a little better. Her fever soon returned along with chills and headache. Then she started feeling better. She ate lunch. But soon, the glassy look returned to her eyes, and her fever spiked again. Took her into see the doc at Care Now. She has strep! No fun.
We did let her open some of her gifts from us. She got some new pj's, a "Devin" bear, a necklace, a Target gift card and some shorts. Her party is scheduled for April 11th. It's gotta be better!

What's Happening
Well, the new school year is off to a great start. Devin is loving every minute of it. She's rotating among teachers for different classes, and thinks it's the coolest thing ever! She's also taking part in an after school program, "ASPIRE", that adds enrichment to their learning experience.
Deren is being his usual funny self. He really does have a great sense of humor for a kid who's not yet 2. And his laugh is contagious!
Keep my mom in your prayers. She has begun the process of trying to get a kidney transplant. My sister, Tracie, is going to test to see if she's a match. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress.
We've had a LOT of much-needed rain in the past 2 weeks. It has helped to cool things off here. But I must admit: It was really nice to see the sunshine this morning.
